Meet the Newfoundland Breed
Newfoundlands are affectionate, remarkably patient, and incredibly loyal companions. Known for their majestic, powerful builds and sweet, gentle personalities, these magnificent dogs quickly become beloved, treasured members of any household.
Despite their massive size and strength, Newfoundlands are notoriously gentle and full of heart. They thrive on human companionship and genuinely enjoy spending time with their families, whether it is lounging comfortably around the house, enjoying an outdoor adventure, or participating in family life as the ultimate protector and friend.
- Gentle Giant Temperament: Exceptionally patient, sweet-natured, and famous for being wonderful with children.
- Water Instincts: Natural swimmers with webbed feet and a historic drive for water rescue.
- Loyal and Calm: Deeply devoted to their families, intelligent, and eager to please.
- Males: 130 to 150 pounds, standing around 28 inches tall.
- Females: 100 to 120 pounds, standing around 26 inches tall.
- Double Coat: Heavy, water-resistant outer coat paired with a soft, dense insulating undercoat.
- Colors: Solid black, brown (chocolate), gray, and Landseer (white with black markings).
- Grooming: Moderate year-round shedding with heavy bi-annual undercoat sheds; requires regular brushing to prevent matting.
- Build: Heavy-boned, powerful, and muscular working structure.
